Yesterday I was travelling back home — returning from Christmas spent with my family and friends in my hometown. From snow-covered roads and frozen streets, through sunshine and clear skies, to disappearing roads and landscapes wrapped in milky fog.

You might think these were not the best conditions to drive hundreds of kilometers. But it wasn't the case yesterday. Yesterday, when the heavy clouds started hovering over the horizon and getting closer and closer, I looked at them with curiosity. I observed how they formed, how their colors and shades kept changing. At some point, when we got into the middle of the mist, I felt excitement. I truly enjoyed the mystery and mysticism of the surroundings. I even said to my mom how lovely it would be to walk through a park and enjoy those limited views.

I shared something with her yesterday that only fully arrived to me today — a realization. I have enjoyed the unknown ahead of us. The unknown landscape slowly revealing itself in front of us as we were driving. With a clear destination but a very foggy road. The unexpected appearance of the forest, buildings, fields and turns of the road — so simple in its form and so exciting. That's it. If the future were a picture, it would look exactly like that foggy landscape. A known destination, a clear picture of the place you are in, and a foggy road ahead of you, where the turns unfold during your journey. You don't know what is coming, you can't see what is ahead of you. You might even change the course, find a new destination. But for sure there is something wonderful hidden in that mist. I am ready for it. That excitement I have felt yesterday — it wasn't just excitement of the views from the car. It was excitement of my own journey. Of my own future — what it holds for me.

There were two options yesterday. I could drive with fear on my shoulders worrying over the unknown hidden in the heavy fog, or — as I felt — excited about the unknown. And this is what I wish all of you — to be excited about your own foggy road. To be again like a child, who can't wait to wake up curious what the new day will bring. To anticipate only great things in our lives and understand that all unexpected road closures and turns we didn't plan will lead us to a better place than we planned for ourselves.

Because why choose fear over excitement? Expecting the worst instead of the best? Why put your energy, belief and emotions into unhappy scenarios that never happened instead of most wonderful ones — which you can enjoy awaiting them. I am choosing the happy path :)

And when something unpleasant will happen? I will deal with it when it arrives, fueled with good energy ready to face it, instead of being drained by unnecessary worries — and having nothing left when a real obstacle finally appears.
